Tire Pressure warning works well.

Was out driving with my wife last night, and while we were on the way home we hear this steady beep from the G that lasts for about 10 seconds. I look at the dash and see that the tire pressure warning light is on. Everything feels OK, so we finish the 10 minute drive home.

After checking the tire pressure, sure enough the right rear tire is about 5 psi lower than the others. Looking more closely, I see that I have picked up a nail, right between the treads. I called work to leave a message that I'll be coming in late today so that I can get it fixed.

Us G35 owners must keep our priorities straight.

As a follow-up, I put the repaired tire back on the car and started it up. The air pressure light stayed on until I had been driving about 5 minutes, then went off.

Re: Tire Pressure warning works well.

yes.. i can't stress the importance of having the tire pressure sensor.. it's saved me too times.. first time, i had a bubble in my sidewall (not repairable) and just last week, i had a nail in my tire.. even tho i kno some ppl have had some faulty sensors and had to have them reset by dealer, it truly does work.. in both my situations, visually, the tires look completely fine.. it wasn't until the sensor went off that i checked the psi and found it to be around 5.. i was still able to run with them, but i kno it's realli dangerous.. you realli should be checking the psi pretti frequently anyways, but having the sensor is like having someone chek it for you constantly..

haha sorry for the long rant :P

It's mainly due to a new federal law, the TREAD (Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation) Act of 2000, which was (IMO) a knee-jerk reaction to the Ford Explorer/Firestone recall thing. All new vehicles by 2006 must have a tire pressure monitor system, and 10% of new vehicles must have them by November 2003.

Re: Tire Pressure warning works well.

I have an 04 6MT , no nav. The tire pressure warning is "minimal" IMO. The Z guys at least have the benefit of psi "numbers and tire location". Geeze , I can't understand why Infinti felt the need to strip useful instrumnettation from a vehicle thats suppose to be "sport-lux" more empahsis on Sport. Fro example the "comapss button does nothing more than blank the compass reading , geeze, they could have at least allowed a toggle between Compass and OIL/Tire PSIs. Something useful rather than a "blank" display. What was the point, does the compass display freak drivers out or something ? such that they must turn it off? What we really need is an modified center dash display PCB with a toggle between current "compass+thermometers" to Tire PSI, Oil PSI, Water Temp, Volts etc. Im an EE,

Re: Tire Pressure warning works well.

Thats funny, on a whim I checked my pressure today (ive been driving very hard testing all my new mods).

All of my tires were 20psi low! No sensor, no warning. They were about even for all 4 tires, I dont know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Oh, and Jdove: the compass button is there so that if you have a nav, you can turn off the compass which is redundant to the NAV's display.

Re: Tire Pressure warning works well.

was there any drastic temp change in your weather? because if you fill your tires when its hot and you measure the pressure at low temp it will drastically reduce the pressure..
