Help me out with selecting the right offsets for 18s on my 03 sedan

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some 18" rims for my 03 sedan. The rims are 18X8 (+35mm) with 225/45R18 and 18X9 (+38) with 255/40R18. The Tirerack recommends this setup, but according to the 1st gen G35 sedan wheel fitment chart, the 18X9 (+38mm) rims will sit 1/4" past the fender line. Is the Tirerack smoking crack? They're usually spot on with their offset recommendations.

Hmm why so freakin' wide? Weights of wheels?

My coupies are 19x8.5 with 33mm offset. With the 245-40s, any significant amount of lowering risks the need of some fender rolling in the rears.

The wheels are the new O.Z. Botticelli's. I like them because they're very Bavarian in appearance. The 18X8s weigh in at 23lbs and the 18X9s at 23.5lbs. They're decently light. I thought the stagger would be nice. Also, I'm not sold on 225/45s if I have to go with 18X8s. I look at coupes with the OEM 18s with 225/45, and the 225/45s look too short and narrow and almost stretched. I guess if I have to, I could go 245/45R18 which are fractionally taller than my 215/55R17s. I'd really like 245/40R18, but they're too short. To hell with Nissan and they're f'd-up tire height choices.

I agree. I'd still try to rock the Z tracks if you can find them. They are like 19-20lbs each.

My front 225-40s are okay but my rear 245-40-19s are a tad tall vs oems. I think that's slightly hurting my acceleration. Would like to to 235-40-19s all around.
