How thick of a spacer can you use before you need longer lug studs?

I am thinking about putting some small spacers on my car. 8mm-10mm. Do you think I need longer studs? If it were your car would you go with longer studs????

I saw a set of spacers on ebay that were 10mm and bolted to you existing studs and already had their own studs mounted in them. I can understand using those if you are going to an Inch or more... but 10mm?? Is that really necessary?

***What is a decient brand of spacer to go with? and who sells them???

10mm you will really need new studs. 5mm you should get new studs. The wheels will still bolt on with 5mm, but you will not get enough thread engagement to be safe. Good chance your wheel might fall off, or you might overtorque the studs and break them, trying to get enough thread engagement.

depends on how long your original studs are. the rule will vary from car to car.

don't buy ebay spacers........ the studs tend to be pretty long and not all the same size.

redlude rocommended H&R or Eibach. I just purchased 2 sets of Eibachs.. came out to about 270. they were more than the ebay ones, but i'm confident these will work out great

good luck on actually getting the H&R spacer, I waited forever for them and never gets it.
I ended up using them
http://www.wheelspacer.com/home.asp

and one thing to look out for is the stud knurl size, some manufacture gives up wrong size and they are end up being too loose and striped within the hub, its a PITA to try to get the stud out with a free spinning wheel lug

good luck

Buy spacers that come with extended studs.

Make sure they are hub centric.

Ichiba, H&R, and Project Kics all come with extended studs (Project Kics are bolt ons - no need to physically replace the studs).

Tons of our Sponsors carry all of the above mentioned brands - all of which are good choices.

I am installing Ichiba 15mm spacers in the front soon. They are some of the more cost effective name brands.

make sure if you are going to use bolt on spacers that your wheels have the recessed pockets in the back of the mounting surface to accept the extra length of the OEM stud that extends past the spacer

Does anybody know if the 07 Sedan sport wheels will accept these types of spacers? I'm looking to do 10mm but haven't had a chance to pull off a wheel to look about the recessed pockets.
