10.5x19 on a Sedan? Critique this setup please...

In a nutshell I'm thinking about running this setup on my car and want to see if I'll have any problems:

F: 8.5x19 245/40/19 (possibly 245/35/19 since the tires are cheaper)

R: 10.5x19 245/40/19 (possibly 245/35/19 since the tires are cheaper)

My buddy actually is selling his Volk TE37s to me, so I think I'm going to pick them up, however he has them on his G Coupe, so he off the top of his head wasn't sure what the offsets are (hopefully not too aggressive for my sake).

I have an 05 Sedan, so I'm hoping they'll fit.

From memory, he's running 8.5" in the front and either 9.5" or 10.5" in the rear and ideally I want to run 245/40/19 all around, so that I will be able to rotate the tires (knowing that I'll have to dismount them because of the staggered sizes in the wheels).

Tirerack recommends 245/40/19 for a 10.5" wheel, which is surprising, so I assume that the tire will fit if the rear rims are indeed 10.5", just stretched (will it be safe, any downsides??). I'm curious if I'll have even tire wear, because I don't want uneven wear due to camber and what not. Also, I'm stock height and for the time being don't have any plans of lowering the car anytime soon (who knows though).

Also, do you see any other problems with me running this setup on a sedan...

I drive an 05 G35 Sedan and have been through this. Here is what I have learned. You might want to consider the offset between the coupe and the sedan. The 05 sedan has a 45 offset all around while the coupe can run between 30 and 35 easily. This means those wheels will protrude out from the wheel wells a significant distance. Also, on the front of the sedan there is not a large area of clearance on the inside so I would consider that also. You can run an offset of 38 to 40 on an 8-8.5" rim both front and back and be ok. Your tires will line up with the outside of the car body.

The tread on a 245 is 9.64" so it will fit a 9.5 wheel but not a 10.5."

Tirerack does NOT recommend a 245/40/19 on a 10.5" wheel, its just a poor system they have set up online. Call them and find out what they think about that. Those are just the stock sizes, not what they consider safe or recommend.

245 is narrow for rear and that width. 275 to 285 will look much better. not sure if 285 will clear the inner fender wall, someone can chime on that.

You cant fit a 275 or 285 on a sedan with a 10.5" wheel without running a lower offset (35) and atleast -2 degrees of camber coupled with atleast a
1.5" drop.

No need to subscribe, 19x8.5/10 has been done countless times on a sedan.

19x8.5 +35-40 with a 245/35/19 up front and 19x10 +40-50 with a 275/35/19 in the rear.

one person says this ... the other says that .. so its hard to tell whos right and whos just talking to talk ..

is it possible to go with something a bit more than 35 height in tire size ??

id like a lil more meat on the tire so whene i hit a new york pothole it wont kill my wheel ...

ask anyone around here, if i tell you its gonna fit, it WILL fit and it will fit perfectly. You can run a 225/40 or 245/40 up front with the 275/35 in the rear if you want more meat up front.

Gdup35sedan is the LAST word for sedan fitments. If you don't trust him, you might as well be on your own.

how accurate is the wheel/tire size calculator on this forum? Just to answer the question on the sidewall, per that calculator, the 40 sidewall on the front tires is the closest to overall diameter on the front wheel for our 03-04 sedans, less than 1%. So the 245/40/19 will get you closer to overall diameter than the 245/35/19 will. if that really matters to you.
