can these rims be repolished/repaired?

actually, car wash is very very bad. Many use hydrofluoric acid in their soap... its so bad that car wash operators have died from splashing the undiluted part of their 'mix' on their unprotected arms (it attacks the calcium in your bones, its a horrible way to die and is not always preventable depending on how much time you have to get to the hospital). Once mixed properly it is completely safe to you, but not always your paint.
HF is expensive, but it's what breaks the bond on the grime and paint. So, alot of carwashes will tweak the time to soak so they can use less HF. Saves them alot of money, but is very hard on your paint. I doubt Rays lips would survive a single pass thru a carwash that is not following the manufacturers directions.. and even if they were, I think there's a strong chance of damage... you might not see it right away..
