Exclamation Curb Rash DIY??

I have OEM 19's and I would like to remove some curb rash I have on the wheels.

I was wondering what you all think about this DIY...

http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/w...uff-repair.htm

this is one of the bazillion links i've found for both the DIY (popular DIY) and here is one for the paint product.

http://www.properautocare.com/wheelpaint.html

So what? - I can't figure out the paint color of the OEM 19's and have no gauge as to how this will end up looking. I know the paint on the OEMs are not metallic, but the paint they are using is metallic.

does anyone have experience with this? suggestions? ideas? opinions? regardng wheel repair and good options, etc.

Once you repair the rims you will not be able to get them to the original color... even if you went to the dealer they can’t get the color code... you will need to paint or powder coat them a different color

mabe this can help...

You'll be fine with that bmw link. It's not brain surgery. Get it filled in and smooth and paint as little as possible. Don't try to paint the whole rim, just the damaged spot. mask everything and blend as needed.

uuuuhh I dunno.... I don't think its quite that easy. They are using the exact same paint that the wheels were before the rash. I think blending the wheel paint will be a B!TCH!!!!

well then by all means throw your hands in the air, admit defeat and go pay someone a couple hundred bucks to do it for you.

we've have our cars for 5+ years with that 2 process lead based finish and nobody has found a perfect match.

I am almost down to sand down the rims in their entireity and get them fully polished or just paint them under a hood with brilliant silver. The OEM finish is beautiful for sure, but to be honest with you, it's something I could live without or even see improved. i don't know, maybe that's denial talking...

has someone found a close match to the stock color? Doesn't have to be perfect. I just want to cover some minor curbage where the black undercoat is visable.
