My wifes rear tires on the stock 19s are fine. I just wanted to throw new front tires on it. I HATE how the 225s look stretched, not to mention they are actually MORE expensive then running a wider set.

Do you think 245-35-19s would be OK in the front without upsetting the VDC? (this is while maintaining the standard 245-40-19 in the back).

Or, are you running 245-40-19s all around?!
you should have no problems with that... i have 245/40/19 on my stock 19's and have no VDC problems at all... i only went with the same size front and rear so i can retate the tires

I am planning on doing the non staggered set up next week. I'm tired of the Coupe eating up tires and am placing 225/50/17s on the rears instead of the 235/50/17s. They will match the fronts and only change the speedo by 1mph... no big deal. I'm sure it should not mess the VDC being such a small change.

How do you rotate? Take the tires off each time? Since the rear wheels are 1/2" wider than the fronts. It might not cause issues with the VDC(or it might) but it WILL change the rake of the vehicle and the weight distribution of the car. This will negatively effect the handling characteristics of the car. Whether this is acceptable or not is up to each individual

Run the 245/35/19 in the front, it is the better option, and rotating is overrated anyways.

Yeah I thought the fronts and rears were different widths as well.

So rotating isnt going to happen.

To be honest, we're selling the car any day now. I just want to sell it with a decent set of tires as a courtesy to the buyer.

I you want to sell the car with a good set of tires, at least do the next buyer a service and get the correct sizes.

Here is a calculator to see how tire width and aspect ratios change the height of the tire so you can keep it close to stock diameter. http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp You can also play with different wheel widths and offsets and compare them to the stock wheels and tires.

Do you think that my 17s with a 1/2 inch wider rear rim would make much of a difference in rotating non staggered tires?

It's my understanding that the stock wheels are the same width, just a notch for the fronts and different size tires. 245s all around wouldn't be horrible I guess. It's not the right car for folks with tire issues though, even rotating you'll still eat them up on the insides. People extend life with a dismount/flip of the tires for added wear if that matters.

The stock width on the 18s are 8" all around. On the 17s they are 7.5" width in front and 8" width in rears. I have the 17s. That is why I'm wondering if I could get away with rotating the slightly wider rear rims with the same size tire all around.

I definitely would not rotate with a wider rim, just silly up front even if the VDC doesn't take a dump because of it.

its tire width that matters to the vdc. no reason in the world why you couldnt run a 8.5" rim up front and a 8" rim on the back with 245 series all around.

might look a lil silly with how the tire mounts, but VDC wont know any difference.

I too would probably be most comfortable with a rim width consistant all around as well as the same size tire.
