Question Refinishing Volks

I recently purchased a set of used Volk SF Winnings. Overall, the wheels were in good condition though the lips had some pitting and minor curb rash. I've had the wheels refinished and the lips have a high polish and look great. I'm wondering if other members have sealed the lips after refinishing (less maintenance) or just keep them waxed and clean them a couple times a week. I'm inclined to do the latter. Here's a few pics of the fronts, the rears are in the wheel shop.

Not on yet but I'll post up as soon as they are. I was waiting on H&R spacers to arrive so I can determine clearances and how much negative camber I might have to run. Once I test fit front and backs, I'll reset the height on the coilovers and get it aligned.

Maybe the question should be, has anyone sealed their wheels after refinishing. Better to know now before the tires are mounted.

^what's the best method for sealing them? Keeping in mind that brake dust was most likely the cause of the pitting previously. I don't want to have to strip the wheels again in the near future if the clear gets pitted. Thanks

sick bruce! cant wait to see them on. not sure about sealing but i know a lot of people just use layers of wax to protect them. might be a pain on winnings though.

Thanks Lyndon. I'm ok with the mesh; I'll keep that part of the wheel waxed. I'm concerned about the lips and whether or not it's beneficial to seal or clear them. I think most members that refinish just use wax as the need to refinish was probably a result the clear being pitted. I'm leaning towards just using wax but wanted some input from members before the tires get mounted.

I never sealed mine after I refinished them. I just use billet polish and wax them about once a month, and dust them off with a mini california duster every day before I leave while the car warms up a bit.

I use this stuff called Zoopseal. It seems to actually work. You just have to reapply it about every year or so. Just clean your rims with soap and water.

Wow! Once a year? Sounds like good stuff. What does it cost?

That's the thing. Costs ~$80 for a bottle of this stuff, but a bottle lasts a long time. I was skeptical at first, but gave it a shot.

I use to use billet polish every month and it was a real pain. I thought about clearing the lips, but that sometimes leaves some cloudiness on the finish. And if you happen to get a scratch, it's a pain to strip the clear, refinish, and reclear. With Zoopseal you can just repolish and reseal if you feel the need to.

This is the condition of the lip after a year. No polish, just soap and water. Just be sure not to use any type of hard cleaner cause it strips the zoopseal.
