19" or 20"?

Shopping for some wheels, but can't decide what I can get away with on my Gx. I am definitely going chrome. I am looking at G-racing Kobe for 20" and perhaps ADR Sterling for 19". I am new, so I haven't mastered adding pictures yet. Sorry. Any suggestions for this rookie owner? Thanx

both look really nice, but with the 20's, you may need to roll the fenders. also, the larger the wheels, the harsher the ride will be.

20s compliment the looks of the car the most...esp if you're getting chrome

go with 20's and chrome is just fine. no need to roll the fenders either.

I don't think we have enough info to give this member a good recommendation. I looked at his profile. He lives in NYC. I've never been there but I've heard that the roads are not that great (understatement.) 19"s with a 35 profile might be a little risky with all those potholes let alone 20"s with a 30 profile.

In addition, we don't know if he's just going for bling, looking for performance, etc., or a combination therein.

We need more info from him IMO.

Raj, haven't seen you in a while. Haven't seen you since the meet in Torrance. How's the 19 front, 20 rear doing?

I'm from NYC and yes, the roads here suck donkey nuts. Ideally, anything larger than stock is asking for a bent rim or bubbled tire...but hey, you live once. Go for the 20's...(Damen said that to me as well. =]) As for myself, I'm taking that advice and investing in 20's soon.

Re: 19" or 20"?

I live in NYC also......streets are 20 inch KILLERS....I got 19's for that reason on my coupe......with 245/40 in the front

I dont wanna run trough rim after rim when it bends with only a 245/35 profile around the 20 incher you will bend it....
Unless you Spend major $$$ on some good forged wheels ....
Me, I wasn't planning on spendin $800 per wheel for some super strong wheel....SO hey I'll just be keepin my eye out for pot holes...

The 20's are the best size that I have seen for the coupe I must admit that....but the 19's are hot enough....and I dont have to worry about bending them as easy.....

No wif I lived in Florida or something then HELL Yeah ...20's all the way

Lexus for my luxury and G35 Coupe for my speed. I must say...Life is not always a B!TCH
Edited by NYCG35 on 04/15/04 01:59 PM.

Re: 19" or 20"?

Thanx for all the info. I still haven't made a decision, but it looks like I am going with 19"s. I live outside of NYC and rarely drive in the city on a consistent basis. I am into looks and safety, more than performance. That is why I chose the G35x. I don't want to make any mods that will negatively affect the vehicle.
P.S. I am a she!

Got any pics? Sooooooooo kidding. Well maybe just Sooo kidding :-)

19"s will let you get a 40 series tire like 245/40/19 which is what I had on my sedan. You will get more than your share of looks with 'just' 19"s. I thought that they were the best in terms of looks, performance, and comfort.
