Question regarding wheel DURABILITY

Ok guys! I currently have stock 17" wheels on my o6 Coupe and I've been thinking about getting some aftermarket wheels. The problem in that I drive down to Baja frequently and roads down there are horrible, with a lot of pot holes on high speed roads.

My question is what type of wheels are more durable? What size would you recommend I get? 18" or 19"?

Please help me out here guys!!
