Lug nuts – McGard, Muteki, Rays?...

I have McGard locking lug nuts and ordered a set of spline drive back in March – apparently McGards plating processor isn’t working or something because the lug nuts are on extended back order…

I’m trying to find an alternative – only in black, black chrome or black anodized – and only some sort of deterrent style (like spline drive)…

So the question is – should I consider Muteki’s spline drive style? Or go with Rays (I think they have a grove in one of the sides)… I can get either of them pretty quick.

Or should I wait for the McGards?

mcgard aint too great they make their keys pretty cheaply and if you crank it too hard it cracks like nothin

i just picked up some short rays in black i thought the only part that locks was that little line carved in, but the actual locking lug has a slightly obtuse egdge so regular sockets cant just fit over it... made me feel better haha

cant find anyone that has them or can get them faster... its a McGard delay so any vendor that can ship faster would have to have them in stock... I've looked and can not find - but would love it of someone could refer a vendor that has them in stock!

thanks for the referral - I checked the website and called them... they have a no-name brand of black spline drive in stock... I might consider that if I can’t find the McGards.

Thanks.

it turns out that Summit had 2 full kits in black chrome (the kit includes lug nuts, locks, and valve stems)... since I dont need the valve stems I ordered the locks (and received) and lug nuts separate...

Now I have ordered the kit and am returning the locks (since the kit has them in it)...

What a bunch of run-around BS just to get the gawd damn lug nuts!

Anyway - its done... and anyone thinking of these lug nuts might want to jump on Summits last kit (as long as you want locks, and valve stems too).

+1 for the Rays. Really like the look; I got a set of black ones. Make sure you don't use an impact wrench on these though!
