Re: Help with tire rub??

You just gotta mount the rim on to see if you need it first. I'm not sure about the bore size on the MSports. You can tell if you'll need them if your rim moves around after putting on over the studs without the lug nuts on. With the wheel flat against the hub of the rotor and your wheel can slide up and down or side to side, then you'll need the rings. If they're not put on, you MAY get some vibrations at higher speeds and increased wear on your lugnuts as it is the only force holding your wheel onto the car. I found that out when I took my wheel off months after I put them on without the hubcentric rings. The acorn looking part of the lug nuts had some metal shavings. But I didn't know better back then and was driving pretty aggressively. If you don't drive hard, then you're fine without them. But if you plan to autocross or track, definitely get them. It's only 34.00 that'll jus tmake you feel safer knowing that they are in there.

Re: Help with tire rub??

No offense, but you cannot just pick a tire size. You need to research things.

First of all, IMO you should try to keep the total tire height close to the same as the stock wheels. 255/35/19 is closer to stock height than 245/35/19. 235/40/19 is even closer and would be a smoother ride. Whether or not you can actually find tires in the size you want is something you would ideally research before deciding on a rim.

Second, you need to worry about offset. Stock is 7" with an offset of +45. So, an 8.5" rim with a +40 offset is going to extend approximately 1" out further than stock. I'd frankly be surprised if that fits the rear without either rolling the fender or introducing negative camber (i.e. lowering the car without fixing the induced camber).

Re: Help with tire rub??

I saw the rims, loved them and got a great deal. I just ordered my tires in 255/35-19 Falken FK451's! I did research ALOT and asked people I met up with for opinions. I just wasnt sure myself what I wanted after all but went witht he 255's. Zimbo thanks for the concern and ill get the offset and everything checked out. Alot of people told me that +40 was fine with the tire sizes I picked out!! , thanks anyway. And gosooners ill order them just in case, thanks. Martin
