Tire Question

Hey guys I will be getting these tires soon: BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 TIRES . Very good grip and cheap price. But the thing is they dont come in 45 series. Is it okay to put 40 series on the coupe. I have a 6 speed BTW.

Re: Tire Question

Is this for stock wheels? If so going to 40 series will reduce the diameter of the tire by about 22mm front and 24mm rear.

225 40 18 25.09 78.77
245 40 18 25.72 80.75
225 45 18 25.97 81.55 Coupe 18" (Front)
245 45 18 26.68 83.78 Coupe 18" (Rear)

The last number is the circumference, the second to last is the diameter. You'll be just under 5% so you should be ok.

Re: Tire Question

Thanks man thats what I needed. How much room does one have to play with anyway? Is 5% smaller or bigger about max?

Re: Tire Question

I thought +/- 3% was as far off stock as one should go on diameter.

Either way, this tire size calculator will help you determine how far off a particular choice may be. This is an approximation. Actual tire specs vary slightly from their theoretical measurments. You should consult the tire's specs for actual diameter or revs per mile to compare directly.
