VDC and traction control question

Does the traction control turn off when the VDC is turned off? Are they both related to one VDC switch?

Re: VDC and traction control question

Yes and no.. sort of.

VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) includes both traction control and stability control, as well as something called Brake LSD.

The Brake LSD tries to fake a mechanical LSD (limited-slip differential) by braking the slipping wheel to force power to the other wheel.

When you turn off VDC, traction and stability control are disabled, but the Brake LSD system remains on. This is why people say you can't turn it all-the-way-off.

Re: VDC and traction control question

Doesn't the 04 have a real viscous LSD not a brake LSD?

Re: VDC and traction control question

6mt only and it only transfers about 30-50% of the torque
