Agreed! And I would expect to see a retired Thai hooker driving that car...

Or a reasonable facsimile of a retired Thai hooker, anyway - eh, Bullseye ?

Re: And you think your lip is big?!

I'm sorry, but I don't mean to offend or insult anyone. I just get a little agitated sometimes. I see a nice BMW 745. I say to myself, "That is one desirable car. I'd sure like to own/drive one someday." If the car wears understated wheels and low-profile tires -- installed to enhance performance and handling, not bling-bling -- so much the better. Does the soft burble of its exhaust note hint at a top-quality aftermarket system? It just adds to the elegant, stealthy-fast aura of the car.

On the other hand...

A beautiful, BMW luxury sedan is ill-fitted with wheels so big its fender wells can barely contain them. There might as well be HUGE, naked breasts on Da Vinci's Mona Lisa!

When I see a shiny, new Corvette -- a super car specifically engineered to perform and turn heads -- fitted with MASSIVE 22" CAST CHROME WHEELS, I just can't believe my eyes. Those 150-lb wheels just ruin performance and kill the car's image in one fell swoop. Isn't a shiny new red Corvette bling-bling enough?

An aged, smoking car with 20" chrome spinners chugs by. What's the point in putting $10,000 wheels on a $400 car? Forget the spinners! Instead, why not fix the controller so the driver's window will go up and down again? Put in a new head gasket. Change the oil and the coolant for the first time in 3 years. And how about a fresh set of windshield wiper blades, to boot? That makes much more sense to me.

Oh well. I'm going to go see if the guy remembered to pick up his $100 bills off the lip of that wheel now... Have a good one.

Re: And you think your lip is big?!

I agree some people go overboard on their vehicles. But.... how many people think its stupid to change the intake on a car? Better yet add a bunch of wires to make the car have a better ground... many.. but I changed mine and so have many others
Depending on what you income is will greatly influence what you do to your vehicle. The BMW, and Escalade belong to players in the NFL. Just as the guys try to outdo each other on the field they seem to try harder when it comes to cars.
22's on the Bimmer fit very well, they do not hang outside the fender wheels nor do the make the car look like its lifted.
This is what the car looks like with the wheels on it...
Edited by lorinserbenz on 05/03/04 02:29 PM.
