Biggest Rear Tire on OEM 19 ?
I finaly will be getting a set of 19s , and after 2 hours of doing my search ive seen diffrent set ups and some i like better than others .
example,
Candlestickpark, Wannabe6mt, 245-40 -19 all around
Texan 245 35 19 Front 255-35-19
Stock 225 40 19 R 245 40 19
G35freak86 245/35/19 and 255/35/19
Ttrank ? I know you have a set .
I would like to Run 245 40 19 in the front
and in the rear run 255 40 19.
Im on Revised Full 350z suspension and my rear fenders are Rolled.
I Like having a wider rear tire but I know the offsets dont allow for much.

btw, you might run into rubbing problems(depending on how rolled the lips are, this may not cause damage though) with 255/40 rears..why not run 35 series? They handle great, look sexy and make the car run so smooth, stable and confident...kumho ecsta spts for the win on price, handling, comfort, noise, looks.

btw, I think klubbheads is running 265mms on the rears on coupe 19s and I think he was going to go to 275s, but I can't confirm that for sure.

Im in Miami where pot holes and uneven surfaces are deadly, i would much rather run a 40 series for personal ease of mind.
I find the 35 series to be a bit small for my taste.
After looking closley the reason i like the combo i want to run is because if you look at Candlesticks 245 40 they sit flush and fill the gap well without having that 4x4 look.
On the back however I would like to go up in size one to the 255 40.
I just dont know if rubbing would be a serious issue, my fenders are rolled so that helps.

IMO, you close the gap from the top down(springs), not from the bottom up(larger sidewall). If a pothole gets you on 40 series, it will get you at 35 series--don't give to much credit on 13 additional mms in the rear being your savior. Also, looking at the tire in relation to the wheel ONLY(mentally erase the car), the 35 series looks much better and has less sidewall give and thus handles better and still has a great ride. I've heard that 40 series is a no-no on cpe 19s, but I guess that was for unrolled lips. In the end, get what you like, but hopefully you don't have to end up selling them and going 35 series as well.
btw, you can go around potholes you know

sorry to hi-jack ur thread but instead of me creating a new one about tire size on coupe 18's i figure i can jump in
so i installed 4 days ago staggered 18inch coupes with fronts 225/45/18 and rears 245/45/18 on my G35X with fuse in and so far so good even on highway driven which i had staggred 20's on my X and had no problem either..but to get straight to the point can i run 225/45/18 tires in the rear as well, i heard u could fit the tires in the rear on an 8.5 in the rear per tire rack???

go with 35 series. I'm pretty sure you will run into rubbing issues with the 40 series. Even though your fenders are rolled.. with the beefier tire (255) it will rub. I have hit some pretty big bumps with these tires/rims and suspension setup recently to test how hard it hit (I avoid them otherwise). Honestly... it was MUCH smoother than I ever thought it would be. Keep in mind, the coupe wheels ARE forged so potholes won't do anything.
You won't regret going with the 35. Won't have to worry about rubbing (im not rolled at all) and Texan1 brings up a great point.. you want to close the gap from top to bottom.. not bottom up. Performance/handling improves and gives it a MUCH sportier look. Keep in mine, I am also dropped on 07 350z suspension with coupe rears.
35 man. Take it from Texan1 and me. I am more than happy and will probably go with another set once I need new skins
Here's some pics of the front and rear to show just how much gap there really is with the 35 series:

Manufacturer site will tell you what size is safe
As some people have mentioned some tires fit narrower than others. I figured the most reliable information is the manufacturer's site. I am personally interested in getting a set of Eagle F1-GSD3s. I searched on the Goodyear website for the largest size that they said would fit on a 8.5" rim and for that tire, it is 255. 255 does seem to be the most common largest size according to what I've seen on other forums though there are always those that throw caution into the wind and claim its safe to put on 275s or even 295s. I'd go with whatever the manufacturer suggest as they've probably taken that into account when designing and testing the tire. I have the coupe wheels also and they do have a rather limited selection of tires and sizes.
