Just wondering why you ask this question?

Does it matter?

The differences are maybe a few pounds either way. A spring, is a spring, is a spring, etc...

I have no numbers, but I have the Basics installed and the stock suspension up in the attic.

I realize G coupe is heavy car,so I want to modify my G with lighter parts even a bolt. My goal is to reach 1470KG as 350Z's. Untill then,I will feel the total difference obtained from the reduced weight and gained power. Right now,I can take off about 40LB from clutch and exhaust, and planning to take back seats out.

Re: Is TEIN basic coilover lighter than stock?

that is understandable.....that u want to trim some weight off your car. The coilovers have to weigh less than the stock setup. think about it, the shock portion is going to be about the same since they are about the same size, the spring portion is very different in size....the coilover has a much smaller spring than a fullsized stock spring.
I agree with cutting weight with every performance mod you make... that way you get more bang for your buck.... HOwever taking your backseats out is a big deal. You will lose a lot of weight but that is really ghetto. What is the point of choosing a G over a Z anyways.... One of the main reasons is we have backseats. If you dont want the seats, i really question, Why dont you get a Z instead?

also reducing weight on the coilover and wheels are unsprung weight. It is more effective than reducing weight on the car.

I am 6'4 high,Z is little small for me and no sunroof. I could certainly get a Z roadster, but it is even damn heavier than G coupe. I know the stock rims are heavy load for acceleration, but never thought any aftermarket rim nicer than them.

Just get a supercharger and then you won't have any need to worry about a few hundred pounds.

I think people loose sight of things when they mod a car... myself included... remember to think outside the box.

The thing is, if all you care about is weight, gut the whole car, start in the trunk and move forward. one aluminum driver's seat is all you need.

With the suspension, the BASICS are a great setup... but about the same weight as any other setup, the stocks included.

But would you not get the Flex system if money wasn't an option just to save on the weight of the EDFC? Of course not.

If you want a new, better suspension, compare the options... but don't spend $800 or more on TEIN BASICS just to drop a few pounds. Outside the box, outside the box.

I will be putting supercharger on,but still have to reduce the weight. I think my G would be faster than any G coupe which have chargers without wieght reduction. 1550KG is quite heavy for a sport car, don't you guys think so?

Re: Is TEIN basic coilover lighter than stock?

i don't know but I do know that 3300 lbs is heavy for a sports car.

remember weight distribution as well. you pull weight off the exhaust and clutch/flywheel than you raise the center of gravity some.

gut the trunk and you just biased the weight to the front wheels, increasing understeer.

In order to gut the trunk, you will need to relocate some weight back that way (say an optima light weight battery?) I tried gutting the trunk and my 60' times worsened. also noted extreme understeer.

best mods for the money are Vortech SC, SSR Competition 17x8 rims and good sticky 245/45 rubber.

also remember a blower will further bias weight forward. Then you start plowing thru turns

Yes, big picture, big picture, big picture. OR OR add lots of money and stir.

If you are going to trim some fat off your G-ride, get rid of it where it counts. First, reduce weight on moving/rotating parts like the wheels, pulleys, and flywheel. These rotating parts weigh exponentially more once they start moving thereby robbing horsepower produced by the motor.
