Congrats on having your car paid off - great feeling, huh?
With $1500 you can get a lot of wheel/tire combos that are really nice. I got my wheels with tires for just under $1500 shipped. I was able to get Z H-techs and '06 projectors at the same time - wheels, headlights and springs bought and installed for under $2000.
I know mine aren't Volks, but considering I would have to pay more than twice as much for Volks and that at the time of my wheel purchase my G was my daily driver, it was a no brainer for me. Each of my wheels only weighs a few pounds more than the GT-S's I was also looking at, and I think they look great, too.
If you've really got your heart set on Volks, try to pick up a used set in good shape and save $1000 or more. I personally would never take out a loan for car modifications, but to each his own.

yeesh. it's this kind of mentality that, in part, contributed to the current U.S. current financial crisis. if you can't afford it, don't buy it. if a loan is absolutely necessary, make sure it is used for an appreciating asset, not rims or electronics.
