TPMS Light Reset

TPMS light came on the yesterday, checked tires, they were OK.
The owners manual says to take the car to the dealer to have it reset - is there a way to do it yourself? Car is a 2008 Journey w/Sport Tire & Wheel Pkg & temp spare.

Thanks

Mine is doing the same. Nice cold front came through, but I checked tire pressure both cold and hot and the pressure are good. *shrug* I am really getting tired of taking this car to the dealer.

It there a easy way to shut the TPMS off, until I visit the dealer for matters more important.

If pressure is ok it should go off in a short time.

once you have filled your tires to the correct psi. the tpm will reset after driving the car above 16mph for a few miles.

My pressures are good, but mine comes on after extended high speed (70+) driving for at least 40 minutes.

ill get some more info on this today at work. have you taken off your wheels for any reason before this started to happen? if so you might have to relearn the sensors. also could have happend if the battery died had that happen to me on a cadaliac.

I can't see how this is happening unless you have a nail in a tire... the tire should be heating up after such a drive, and with heat, the air should be expanding, meaning you'll read a higher psi. But here's a bulletin on the different reasons why tire pressure changes... no, I didn't read the whole thing yet.

Please look at the last page of the bulletin above

I take off my wheels all the time, I've had to disconnect the battery here and there, and I've even changed the battery out a few times... never had a problem. But there always are those special cases...

OK guys, let's try to figure this one out: I've had the car to the dealer 3 seperate times in the last 2 weeks to have this fixed. I've checked the tires each time and they are at 36psi. The sensor is not supposed to come on until a tire gets below 30psi. No amount of driving will reset it.

It has gone off each time in roughly the same location on my way to work! Could there be something at the same frequency as the TMPS causing this.

I'm going to try a different dealer this time.

My drive to & from work is only about 7-8 miles...all street. After I had it fixed again last Saturday, I put over 200 miles on it with no problem. Checked tires Sunday afternoon to verify pressure, checked OK. On the way to work Monday, the light came on again. Tire pressure still at 36. Can't figure this one out. The only thing I have added to the car is my V1 radar detector.

I'm taking it to a different dealer tomorrow, I'll let you guys know what the results are.

That's weird, mine only does it after extended Highway miles.

My light came on Sunday night and yesterday I filled the tires from 29-30 psi to 34 psi and today in the morning the light went off.

My car is at the different dealer as I write this. I have delt with this service rep before with my 03 and had nothing but good experiences with him. He thinks it's a bad sensor.

Perhaps the dealership I had it at just did a quick reset without bothering to troubleshoot the problem.

It's fixed (again). They re-initialized the wheel sensors. The service rep said there is an Ohm reading they can trace is the light goes off next time. The other dealership never said anything about this.

Time will tell. I'll keep you guys posted either way.
