Should I upgrade brakes?
Should I upgrade brakes?
I've got a 5AT that the dealership originally put a BBS wheel/tire kit upgrade on. When I bought it I had them remove the BBS setup (because they wanted $4K) because I was figuring on putting Volk GT7's or something like that on it. They left the drilled rotors but put the standard (non-Brembo) brakes back on it. I'm currently contemplating going to 19" GT7s and was curious if I should upgrade brakes. Pardon my ignorance on this topic but I could use some advice.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Should I upgrade brakes?
Unless you autocross, don't bother. The tires are the limiting brake factor not the calipers. Brembos and the regular calipers will both stop you at the exact same distance. After 10 times in a row though, the Brembos will stop you better.

Your car is a 5at so it never came with Brembos.
I ordered the Wilwood brakes.. for $1750 you cant beat them and they look soooo cool.

Thats just the fronts...
BUT.... Ap's or Stop Techs or the 6 piston Brembos are $2699.
The rotors are two piece with 6 piston calipers, available in red or black.
For $1750 you cant beat em!
Here is a pic of someones G with just the slotted rotor...
