Twice Brakes Replaced after 36,000 Miles!!!

My wife drives a silver 2003 G35 mostly freeway driving with little stop and go traffic. We have had to replace the brake pads and rotors on the front wheels TWICE and ONCE on the back. Having owned 10+ autos over the years this seems like an excessively high wear rate. The last pad replacement came after only 16,000 miles! Infiniti started to cover 'wear' items and did repay us for the first brake job, but refuses to do anything about the second job since their warranty only goes to 36k and we had 36,267 miles on the car! Worse than that Infiniti has not changed the brake pad or rotor materials...so we can expect another $850 brake job in a year or so! After complaining to the customer 'hot line' I was told that they would contact the dealer, but Infiniti corporate would do nothing. I have yet to hear back from them after two weeks.
I have seen a similar problem from Volkswagen on the new Jetta and they took care of their customers by offering to pay part of the brake job and replace the pads and rotors with new lower wear versions.
Have others experienced this and what is the general feeeling out there?
This will certainly be the last Infiniti that I will by.

How about make it your last sports car you buy. Because you will never be happy.

When a car stops in 110 ft 60-0, the pads are performance pads, and need usually dust more and wear faster. Accept it! Be glad you have had a warranty till 36k. And a brake job only costs 60-70 bucks for front pads, and rotors about 50-80 bucks for the set up front. And its easy to do. I have 8000 miles on mine and bought it in Feb 04. Last time I rotated the tires at 6k, the front brakes still had more than 3/4 life remaining, and I do mostly city driving.

you could always drop the $ on a big brake kit, like the wilwoods....problem solved. That's what i would do if i were you.

Re: Twice Brakes Replaced after 36,000 Miles!!!

I have a g-35 automatic sedan with only 9900 miles and need to replace the front pads. mostly city driving. I too feel this is bs. the pads should last me between 15-20k if not more.

Infiniti should replace them each time without a problem and they should extend the warranty on the brakes to 60k or 4 years.

what kind of brakes is the dealership using during time of replacement?

what about Brembo brakes? are they better and what is the average life expectacy for them?

Re: Twice Brakes Replaced after 36,000 Miles!!!

i have over 18k miles on my 5at and haven't had to change them yet. perhaps i've been lucky but i don't find it so unbelievable to have to replace the brakes every 18k - 20k miles. isn't that the average? also, brake wear can also depend on the driver habits as well.
