how much to bring it near flushness

i'm considering picking up some wheels, since i have an X it will need to be non-staggered.

18 x 8.5 +20mm with 235/40/18

how would these sit compared to stock, this is on stock ride height. The wheels come in like a +20 or a +42 offset.

what kind of spacers would i need to bring it near flushness?

You have a sedan? Those are already going to be beyond flush and will likely require some camber to prevent rubbing

yes i have a sedan.

what would the ideal offset be for 8.5 width wheels?

on the offset calucators it says i'll have 6mm more inner clearance. i assume that will be wheel from strut/body, so their isn't any rubbing... and it says 44mm outer clearance, 44mm is about 2-2.5 inches, that means it will stick out that much more compared to stock, my stock right now is tucked a couple inches in there... am i misunderstanding these numbers?

should i got for the +40ish offset instead?

The most common 8.5" setup in the rear, is when sedan owners put the OEM coupe 19" wheels on, which are 8.5+33. These are about as flush as you can get without rubbing without rolling the fenders.

ok, so there isn't going to be a way for me to run the +20 in 8.5 at all without modifications. sadly it found a great deal for those wheels.

i'm trying to stick with a 18in wheel and no do any mods what so ever.

can you give me a simple guideline to follow say for 8in wheel and then 8.5inch.

looks like tirerack list a lot of +40ish offsets on 8.5 and 8.0 wheel. so i assume i should stay within +33-48mm offsets.

Anywhere in the +35-45 range should be fine for a sedan running that tire size

tire size can change as well. those tires were the tires that came with the wheels. i didn't check how it will effect the odometer yet. i perfer to run the right sized tire for the car rather then anything.

so 35-45 offset for either 8 inch wheel or 8.5 inch wheel is good?

Hey red couldnt he run a 225/45/18 on there and be fine. Here is a pic of me putting a coupe wheel on with my 10mm spacer. I know its a 18x8 but it seem I had more room to go.

running the same tire size on the OEM 19 wouldn't be good for my X sedan right? since its staggered... thats the only problem i have with the OEM 19's i have to go thru the hassle of finding someone to trade with, ship and etc.

running the same size tire would not be a problem. There are a few running the oem 19 with the 19x8.5 rear and 19x8 in front with a 245/40/19 all around and not have any problems. If you dont want to do that, then find someone with a X and go halfs with them on two sets of OEM
