trust the midas touch?

sorry if this questoin sounds really stupid to you,
but i was watching tv the other day and i saw the midas commercial, says that for 89.99 we can get life time warranty break pads as long as we own the car
right now i have a 2003 g35c 6mt, and the brembo brake pads dont have warranty from infiniti.
do you guys think the midas thing is true?
is there differences in brake pads?
should i go to midas or infiniti?
thank you guys

Re: trust the midas touch?

No, no, no. Do not go to Midas to get your brakes done! Places like this are able to offer lifetime replacement pads because they comprimise things like brake feel. The material they typically use is so hard as to guarantee you will not need a brake replacement, you comprimise performance.

If you are buying a sports coupe, why would you want on the one thing you want to trust in the most?

Re: trust the midas touch?

I always say it's thanks in PART to such companies [tire and brake pad/rotor] and owner ignorance that we have 43,000 traffic deaths [about 20,000 were not wearing seats belts].

"Since there are no federally imposed certifications for brake replacements, consumers have to make that decision themselves. The Gold Seal of D3EA indicates the brake pads meet or exceed the requirements imposed on a new car.
"It is a buyer's beware market," cautioned Greening. "Consumers must educate themselves regarding the quality differences and subsequent safety implications of the various brands in the industry. You cannot tell the difference by just looking at them"

What Should Consumers Do?

Make sure the replacement brakes purchased are premium quality and an exact match of the original equipment.
Make sure the brake pads have the D3EA Gold Seal on the box to insure quality standards have been met."

Re: trust the midas touch?

The warranty is on the brake pads from being defective during their lifetime as most brake pads are, not from lasting forever. Brake pads are a wear item they are not designed to last the life of the vehicle. Just a heads up.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO...and NO....do NOT go there for anything...not even jsut go and use there bathroom...its never 89.99 or whatever...they will find something else wrong with the brake system...rotor, piston...ect...if you say that you dont want to change anything else besides the pad? then they wont warranty the work, and if you say that you dont want to do any wrok on your brakes? then they will charge you a fee for the inspcation, that was free!!! please pleaes do NOT go there for anything...ohhhh...did i mention NO???
