Installing Hawk brake pads
Installing Hawk brake pads
Plan to install both the front and rear pads this weekend. Anything out of the ordinary that I should be aware of? Some rear brakes are different from the front when removing pads. Do I need any special tool for the rear pads? Many thanks in advance.

Re: Installing Hawk brake pads
DIY forum has detailed instructions. Make sure you tie your brake line to something with something (I use zip ties) and don't leave your calipers dangling. Wear latex gloves. Use the right tools. Torque to specs. If you don't have the specs and a torque wrench, don't do it.

Re: Installing Hawk brake pads
Catatafish, I checked twice in the DIY but I did not see anything on changing brake pads. I have done it on different cars before so I do know how. My issue is some rear brakes are different and requires special tool to push the piston back. I want to be prepared for the job. VW Passat is one of them. Is it the same to push the rear brake piston back as the front, anyone?
