Another Tire Q?
Another Tire Q?
I've deleted my old thread about purchasing the proper tires. It seemed that the consensus all agreed that I should look into the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's.. but these are Summer tires.. I've decided to go with an All Season set.. Here's what I currently have
Bridgestone RE040's on OEM coupe 18's
Front: 225/40/18
Rear : 255/45/18
They lasted me over 25k miles so far.. but they're balding.. I hate the noisiness of them..
I'm looking for:
Front: 235/40/18
Rear : 255/45/18
-or-
Front: 245/40/18
Rear : 245/45/18
I'm currently looking at Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus:

BTW... I'm only looking at 255 rear for the looks of it'
What's everyone opinion on going straight up non-staggered? 245/45/18 or 245/40/18 all arround?

I don't have camber issues yet.. I'm still not lowered
I have the eibachs sitting in the garage right now and Tirerack does not carry them
I get tires at a good rate through them till the end of the year

Ah very nice, just what i'm looking to hear
All-season tires are designed to resist hydroplaning better; you need to have standing water to hydroplane.
On just a wet surface, a high performance summer tire will easily outperform an all-weather tire.
Even with that being said, the GS-D3 and PS2's are exceptional in wet conditions for summer tires; enough so that they compromise dry performance to achieve their wet performance.
I like the sound of that haha
On my previous car, I had Bridgestone RE910s and was very happy with them. I think their successor is the G019. If I were putting A/S tires on my car, I'd probably go with those or the Pilot Sport A/S ones.
