Lightbulb Pros & Cons of variable wheel sizes...

I'm curious as to who (if anybody) has aftermarket 18's on their G coupe? It's my understanding that the majority of the members here all upgraded to 19's and 20's. However though, and I might be wrong on this, but isn't the concept of 19's, 20's, or larger more of a VIP/Cruiser look reserved for per say sedans (ex.:Chrysler 300's, Bentley's, etc.), as opposed to race/sport inspired look which can be more attained by the look of 18's?

Moving away from the visual factor, with reference to performance & mechanics, wouldn't the larger wheels put more of a weight factor on the car as a whole, therefore slowing it down, decreasing MPG ratings, and working components like power steering a bit more than the norm? Also in everyday driving, even with stock suspension set up, the "stiffer" ride that the G coupe offers as OEM in comparison to other coupes in the market, wouldn't 18's help and aid with dampening potholes, bumps, etc. which ultimately could enhance damage to suspension components, wheels, etc. as opposed to running on thinner tire required by larger wheels?

For the record, I am not knocking anyone rolling on 19's, 20's, etc. I am just wanting to verify rumored information I have collected to see what is and isn't factual; and also get your thoughts on this

Thanks!

lightweight 17/18" wheels will be best for performance. The vast majority of people upgrade for looks as a primary reason

G does come equipped with 19 inch wheels from the factory.

So there is nothing wrong with upgrading to an aftermarket 19 inch wheels (as long as they are not heavier then stock wheels).

As far as performance 18s will give you more then 19s or 20s in most cases.
Larger wheel diameter might play a role in a top speed........but I don't think it's gonna be anything significant.

On top of all that the price of rubbers also is a big factor.

As far as the looks.........you can make it look good with 18s with a proper drop.

Here's the example
