just so we are clear.. you had 30psi when the tires were cold?

when your tires are warm it could be like +2-5 PSI, i recommend checking tire pressures in the morning. before the car is driven to get a more accurate number. I had a tire light come on while i was driving when i got home all where 30psi. i figured when it was cold it most likely dropped below the min spec of like 26-28 or something. pumped it up to 35psi and in the morning i checked it all where at 32 and stable.

Not always the case. It really depends on the tires contact patch area vs actual wheel diameter. It also depends on the manufacturer and how stiff the tire actually is. There really is no blanket tire pressure that works.

If you have a set weight, and put a wider tire on, the weight is spread out more so in theory you need less pressure to sustain that weight. It's like if you do pushups on your fingertips vs on your fists. You weight the same, but obviously there is more pressure on your tips vs fists, so you need more pressure to hold you up.

WHat I do is chalk or paint the tire. I stencil out a band across the tire with paint and spray it and let it dry. Then i go drive. Every couple of mile i pull over and notice where the wear is coming from. If it's more in the center than the edges, i let air out. If it's more on the edges, i add some air. You can usually dial it in pretty good this way. It takes a little work, the end result is nice even tire wear over the life of the tire. I've gone down to the wear bars with my tires looking perfectly flat across like this.

On my other car that came stock with 225/60/15's, the stock tire pressyre was 35PSI. WHen i put 275/40/17's on, 28PSI would do the same job. That's 7PSI less on a wheel 2" larger in diameter but with a contact patch 50MM wider.

My point is every car/tire/wheel combo will be different
