Maybe a newbie question, but doesn't lower offset wheels push the weight farther from the center of the car, which in effect puts similar strain as using a spacer on the wheel bearings and general area? Please somebody enlighten me on this.

it sure does, this is the argument used by people FOR spacers.. spacers in effect put the same amount of stress on your bearings and such as do low offset wheels

if and when my **** breaks down DUE to the spacers ill let you know, hows that
better theory? Okay. ride on rims that are +47 offsets and throw some 25mm spacers... or buy some rims that are +22 offsets, which are going to run down the bearings quicker? ......... hmmmm

The key is to buy some quality spacers, make sure the studs are long enough for the lugs, and make sure you get hubcentric spacers. if you don't have all three of these elements, don't buy the spacers.

look for a thread that states that the bearings went out on their car due to spacers. if you find one, it is because they have poor spacers or they were poorly installed.

good luck

you do realize that people have already STATED that if you are to get spacers to get QUALITY spacers right?

as below..

many places will not let you drag with them on either.

so good job on restating what has already been said

for those looking for spacers get Ichiba V2 or Project Kics those are the top brands for spacers

I basically restated what's been posted on numerous threads. search fool.
Do you own spacers?
I currently have 2 sets of 25mm Eibach's

BTW. as for the premature bearing problems.. G35's are known for this issue already, stock or not.

anything else?

I swear some threads are hilarious even if they DO stay on topic

I have a 25 offset for my rear wheels and the car has 60k miles. My bearings are suddenly making noise.

Its a roll of the dice...

Not if you know how to use the search feature appropriately.

To the OP, here's an informative thread (that I found within seconds): https://g35driver.com/forums/wheels-...rs-idiots.html

Read the whole thread if you are really interested in finding more info regarding wheel spacers.

My personal opinion is that I would only use wheel spacers to clear a BBK if I needed to. For looks, I wouldn't mind using them if I wanted a more aggressive look than my current setup, but I also track my car and don't really want that extra variable to think about. If you are going to get wheel spacers, make sure you get a quality spacer that is hubcentric and some aftermarket studs. You shouldn't have much to worry about if you do just that.

A test would be a little difficult since its more of a long-term "issue" such as premature wear that many people refer to.

Theoretically speaking, spacers are probably not something you would want to add to a car that's being tracked. But there are many quality hub centric kits out there that would stand the abuse much better than other spacers.

For a DD that might see occasional track time, I wouldn't be too worried about a 5mm-20mm spacer if you do them the right way.

For a car that's being consistently tracked (2% of G35 drivers), I would not feel comfortable with them, even if they can stand up to the abuse. But that's just my personal feeling.
