Sedan Stock Wheel/Tire Weight

As a matter of interest, I weighed my stock six spoke wheels with the 215/55-17 RSAs and they were 48.5 lbs each. I've heard that the 'sport' five spokers were heavier. Anyone weighed them yet?

I also weighed my 16" winter wheels with the 225/60-16 Blizzaks and they weighed 46.5 lbs. Of course different style wheels, but I thought this was interesting.

Re: Sedan Stock Wheel/Tire Weight

Thanks GSM. Wow, 2.5 lbs seems like quite a bit! Anyway, I still like my six spokers.

BTW, you've had some previous experience with Toyos or Yoko tires before right? Which models? As A/S tires, any good in light snow? I'm looking at possible replacements for the RSAs and I haven't looked at alternatives to the Pilot Sport A/S yet.

GSM: Which tires were on those? RS-A's, GS-D's, or the Turanza's?

Cadillaccarl has 235/50-17s on his car I believe. I've heard great things about the Pilot Sport A/S. I'm also going to be shopping around. Also heard great things about Falken ZE-512s, and they're well priced.

Re: Sedan Stock Wheel/Tire Weight

has anybody weighed just the 5-spoke 17" wheel only?

if i get new wheels, i don't want to move to heavier ones.

Gord, I've got the Yokohama AVS snows on winter rims. Don't think that's what you're after bro.

ryoken: That was with Turanzas on bro.

Re: Sedan Stock Wheel/Tire Weight

Ack. That means my car has 51lb. shoes too. What to do, what to do...

Anybody know the weights of tires? I've "heard" that Pole Position SO3's are heavy, but haven't seen anything factual on the matter.

Re: Sedan Stock Wheel/Tire Weight

I'm leaning towards the Falken ZIEX 512s in the 225/50-17s. Overall diameter is 26.1 as opposed to stock 26.2. Weight is 22.5 lbs each. Reviews that I found were good compared with the Pilot Sport A/S:

Re: Sedan Stock Wheel/Tire Weight

gordgee,

How do you come up with a differnce in the 26.1 and 26.2 in the diameter differnce between 215/55/17 and 225/50/17
I used a tire calculator and came up with 26.31 for the 215 tire and 25.86 for the 225. the closest match for the stock rim is 235/50/17 which is 26.25

Re: Sedan Stock Wheel/Tire Weight

The specs are actually off the manufacture's websites for the tires. Every tire has a bit of variance, and so I was told to actually refer to the manufacture's specs for greatest accuracy rather than use a tire calculator.
