245/45/17 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tires on 17in wheels

After reading all the recent reviews I would very much like to get a set of the Vredestein Sessanta tires on my car. However, my '07 coupe came with the 17 in wheels on it, and vredestein does not make tires in a 50 height profile (stock tire size 225/50/17 front, 235/50/17 rear). I was therefore trying to find out if running a 235/45/17 front 245/45/17 rear would be acceptable, or if that would buldge excessively on the stock rims. That configuration would keep the rake (rear tire slightly bigger) almost exactly the same and therefore I hope keep the VDC from tripping, as well as only resulting in a 2.2% speedo error, but my concern is mainly if those tires would simply bulge too much on the rims.

Another option would be running 225/45/17 front 235/45/17 rear but that would result in a full inch smaller overall diameter, and of course I would prefer to run as fat a tire as I can get away with. Any help or advice on the subject would be appreciated.

The wheel size calculator is actually what I used to figure out the 2.2% speedo error, which is well within the "3% of stock" rule of thumb. What I'm more concerned about is the tire bulging out out too far on the 7 1/2 in front/ 8 in rear rim. Has anyone used this size on the stock 6 spoke rim, or know if vredestein tires run wide, narrow, etc. Thanks.

bump, i have been wondering the same things. i find more selections at the "45" aspect ratios over the "50" aspects. is it safe?

I have a'04 sedan and run 235/50/17 all around and they do bulge somewhat, so 245's could be a little too much.

So just to close this out - after talking to several knowledgable people on the subject (thanks goes out to Cody from the tire rack) I ended up going with the 235/45/17 front 245/45/17 rear vredestein rubbers. Running 245/45 front 255/45 rear would have gotten me even closer to stock tire height, but that would be at the very extreme of what both rims could hold and there was no point as 2.2% speedo error is just fine. There is a very minor bulge with these tires, but just enough to protect the rim so I would actually call that a good thing. Rake is identical, so I haven't had any problems with the VDC tripping in when going around turns. Other perks include the center of gravity on the car being slightly lower, and the smaller tire size doing the equivilant of raising the rear gear ration from 3.35 to ~3.42.

Thanks to the weather I don't know how these tires run in the dry, but wet handling is complete night and day. The stock eagle RSA's couldn't hold second gear in the rain even at lower rpm. My 5.0 mustang, with similar power levels and identically sized Dunlop 9000 SP sport rubbers would break loose in third. With the vredesteins on the G, pouring rain, 55 degree weather they held completely solid all through first gear, full throttle shifting a touch after 5000 rpm. I couldn't believe it. Not that I'll be racing in the rain of course, but just for accident avoidance in day to day driving the wet grip that these tires have is astounding.

Unfortunately the tire rack doesn't carry these, but they can be ordered online through another website (just google the name of the tire). I happened to be 10 miles from Sanders Performance Group in Norwood, NJ, so I went through them to save on shipping. They got the tires on a days notice for a little under $800 mounted and balanced. Couldn't recommend these tires enough.
