my wheels make strange noises after installing them, please help
I'm not sure but after installing my new aftermarket wheels onto my coupe, i did a short test drive, and notice a lot of weird cliking ad noises coming. So i came home and checked my lug nuts and they seem to be not tightened all the way. I could've sworn ive tighten them to the max after i've installed the wheels. Anyhow, I make sure to tighten them again, then went for another test drive, a little better this time but i still hear weird noises coming from the front driver side.
I am using a small 5 inch socket wrench, maybe this is the problem. Do i need a torque wrench with a longer handle that will give me more support so that I can tighten my lug nuts even more?
Also what is the proper lb/ft that I need to tighten the lugs onto aftermarket rims? I want to make sure i do this correctly... Since our car has 5 lug pattern, in which order do i tighten them, does it matter?
Also when installing the wheels, should i finger tighten them while the tire is off the ground, and then lower my car, and then proceed tightening them all the way with a torque wrench? Because I heard people say that i should do the tightening while the wheel is off the ground. But how will this work? I've tried it before and when i do it this way the wheel rotates. And plus its kinda dangerous to tighten the lug nuts this way because extra force can cause the floorjack or factory jack to tip over.
I'd appreciate if someone can properly show me how to do this and to what specs the lugs have to be tightened.
