point being, doesn't have to be wide *** wheels
10.5 isn't wide? That's wider than most guys roll with, no? I see your point tho. My point is that the lower the offset, the closer you get to a bottom limit for how narrow your wheels can be.

naww 10.5 is not too bad, from what i've seen it's a pretty common choice

but you can get away with a huge lip, nice clearance on a 9.5 , the lip is not AS big but you can get a max lip of like 4 inches with its pretty good for most people

Obviously there are varying degrees of offset, but this diagram gives you an idea of how it works. I know many people that know exactly the perfect offsets for their car, nice fitment, etc, but have no idea what offset actually is.
Funny, because you fall into that category yourself, evidenced by your statement that negative offsets require wide wheels.

To be "flush" for the AVERAGE GUY is 19x9.5 with +18 offset and 19x10.5 +17 offset those are average flushness with normal camber and requiring a rear fender roll. Alot of guys go with lower offsets and wider wheels and lots of negative camber...but thats extream most guys that posted in your thread fit that catagory and you need to know what you are doing (or your wheel guy) to an extent if if you are ordering your custom sizes and offset.

J 4 lD please stop posting!

Op,Like sylvan said you gotta know what you want. The offsets and sizes he gave are pretty common for "flush" fitment running the right spec tires and camber.
Those sizes 9.5" +18, 10.5 +17, are the same as an 8.5" +6, 9.5" +5.

+1 on the right camber, with 25mm spacers on my stockies in the back (19x8.5) and im at an effective offset of 8 but my camber is keeping me from being flush

^Not really.

Offset is offset. The measure + or - from dead center of the wheel. Thats all it is.

It's when you're choosing different widths when people get confused.

But there are other things to consider other than offset when searching for a perfect fitting wheel.
