general question bout suspensions
general question bout suspensions
im thinking of getting 18's for my G .. and i was wondering if i get the 18's. my car will obviously be rasied a little due to the fact i have bigger rims . andn i wanna get the lowering springs to bring it down back to the originial height that it was before putting the rims on . this is possible rite ? cuz if i lower my car, i'll b in the same situation where the drieway is to steep to take the car up on ...

Re: general question bout suspensions
18" wheels will not necessarily raise your car height any.
When choosing your wheel and tire combination one of the most important factors are overall height of the wheel and tire combination. After choosing the wheel of your choice, use the tire size to make the overall height as close to the original as possible. Remember that the tire needs to fit under the car and not rub on any parts (straight or turning). 18" wheel height and 245 tire width seem to be the going standard. One other important thing to remember is that the wheel has an offset that positions the wheel/tire closer in towards the car or out towards the fender.
The lowering spring will actually lower the car, while the wheels and tires really shouldn't.
Good Luck.

You can try the Tire/Wheel Calculator over at g35world.
direct link to Tire/Wheel Calc.
stock sport (heightxwidth boltsxdistance offset)
wheel 17x7 5x114.3 45 tire 215/55
try
wheel 18x8 5x114.3 40 tire 245/45
or 18x8 5x114.3 45 tire 245/45
other 18" and 19" combos work, too, but front inside clearance seems to be the problem area.
Tirerack.com and Discount Tire also do a great job with real equipment.
Also, we measured the Eibach springs lowering at 1.5" at the last OC G35 meet.
