Tein basics questions

I already made a long post that i guess no one read so here's the condensed version. I want less understear in corners, i want a stiffer ride, i want about 1.5 inch drop, i want to improve handling characteristics, i dont want the ride so uncomfortable that it feels like i am riding in a go cart over speed bumps anytime there is a tiny little bump in the road. Tein basics opinions?!

i was also thinking of the eibach spring kit but would like to get some performance out of my suspension upgrade (not just looks) and i have also read about people's shocks getting FUBAR'ed after a while with just spring upgrades....

and i am planning on getting camber adjusters... so dont worry about that (do i need front or just rear tho?). this will be with 19 inch wheels btw on a 6mt coupe (if that matters)

2004 Black on Black g coupe 6spd.... aluminum pedals, clear corners, z tube, and pop charger. soon to have 19" volk gt-c's and PIAA xtreme whites in the clearance and corners

Re: Tein basics questions

Yeah for a number of reasons, the Eibach's alone will not do what your after.

Here is a cut and past review from a 350Z owner when I asked him to review his Tein Basics. Keep in mind that the oem 350Z shocks are stiffer then oem coupe shocks.

1. You can initiate a corner at a higher rate of speed than oem. Push is gone, yeah!!

2. Weight transfer is crisper and faster than oem with less body movement. Upon hard acceleration out of corners and on straights, the car squats a very small amount and hooks up in a very predictable manner.

3. Driving normally, very little difference in dampening is felt. But the car recovers more quickly from bumps. The damping in corners is much better than oem. Corrections are easy and quiet (quiet as in steering input).

4. You can accelerate out of the corner sooner. Errors at the apex or after turn-in no longer result in drastic snap to oversteer but respond to the steering input. The feedback and adjustment cycle is completed quickly with much less input and body movement than oem. If you enjoy sliding around corners, as I do sometimes, you will really enjoy the basics.

5. The Basic also holds the road better in uneven corners. The factory setup would tend to "feel" squirrely on uneven corners and the basics keep the tires on the ground better.

The only thing I don't like is that it such a subtle improvement. It only helps were it matters. But, I think it was money well spent. A definite improvement over oem in every respect. Problem 2; Now I have to learn how to exit a corner faster. :-(

Here's how the Tein Basics compair to oem, spring rate wise.
Oem rates are 314/342
Tein Basic (HKS Hypermax II use's same spring rates btw)
504/504 F+61% R+43%
Transfers +18% roll stiffness to front

For the price, the Basic's are pretty hard to top, providing you want the chages they will offer up on the car.

Re: Tein basics questions

SO if the Basics transfer roll +18% to the front , it seems that the understeer "issue" would increase? If so it would seem that adjustable sways , set >+18% stiffer in the rear may be warranted if you want to balance the handling. Personally I find the OEM understeer annoying.
