Spring Install Time?
Spring Install Time?
I've got an Eibach Pro Kit, and I'm looking for an installer in my area (Memphis, TN). So far, I have quotes from the dealer and a local Goodyear garage, both of which have reputations for good work. However... Both are estimating 8-9 hours for the install, which will result in total charges of around $625. Both have agreed to provide an alignment at no charge after a week, to let the springs settle. What's with this 8-9 hours crap? I believe 3-4 hours would be more than enough time to complete the install. What do you think?

Re: Spring Install Time?
Haha!! You should not spend more than $100US and it will not take 8-9 hours to install. That is total BS. It should take about 1-4 hours tops. People have quoted $100-$150 CANADIAN...and I think that's a lot. Get the alignment done some place else, reason why they're giving it away "for free" is because it's included in the freakin $600. haha!! Getting it done at the dealer could lead to recorded documents, which could lead to voiding suspension warranty. GL on this man...don't pay $600 for install...hell no...that's more than the springs themself.

It's still a G thang!!

Re: Spring Install Time?
Thanks for the reply. I had springs installed on a '95 Maxima a few years ago, and I thought that did not take very long to do then. Heck, I watched them do the installation! When both guys here in Memphis quoted 8-9 hours, I just about had a stroke. I told them if their mechanics really worked that slow, they ought to fire them. Maybe the $600 they quoted should be in Iraqi Dinars, not US$! I'll keep looking... Thanks again.

Re: Spring Install Time?
Dude I just got the Eibach Pro-Kit and Injen CAI installed on my Coupe. Both of those were installed by my mechanic in 5 hours total. My guy has a fixed rate of $200 for spring install. That is a pretty decent price. $800 is totally off the wall. Look for someone who knows what they are doing. If you have an import shop around where you live go in and see if they have a mechanic they usually take their cars to. They might be able to hook you up.

Re: Spring Install Time?
I worked for a auto performance shop for a couple of years. There is no way, it takes 8-9 hours for a spring install. We used to do spring and shock install in under four hours.
They probably want you to leave your baby overnight so that they can take her out on the town and tear it up! hahaha
Seriously, I suggest looking elsewhere.
