i know lips are very sensitive so i only tried soap and water. no luck.
just hoping anyone here can gimme a solution!

 

try meguiars mag polish...the pink stuff.

mine were trashed and I used that stuff with a little elbow grease and some poor boys wheel sealant

 

Try a mild claybar and lots of lube. If it etched into the metal though you'll have to strip the anodizing and repolish with a metal polish

 

Try some wheel degreaser/cleaner.


You wet the wheels first with cool water, spray the degreaser, let it sit for 30 seconds to a minute, and then scrub away. If the dirt/grime doesn't come off, then you need to try some of the other suggestions. This helped me get stains off of my wheels that I couldn't remove with soap and water.

arent gram lights anodized? if so then you cant use a polish on them

 

Be careful with any cleaners. I used a "safe for all wheels" cleaner on my J8s and now my annodized lips are in need of a new polish.

Poorboys makes some wheels cleaners for metal specific wheels.

 

Seems like you did not use wheel sealant. I have no ideas on how to remove those brake dust since I always apply wheel sealant to my wheels and it helps a lot in protecting your wheels from brake dust. Make sure you apply a coat (1 coat is enough) of wheel sealant to your wheels after you are done washing it. And brake dust will not be a problem again. Im using Poorboy wheel sealant and it is great.

 

^ I bought that stuff too and I feel like it doesn't do anything, brake dust sits on it just the same as when I don't put it on, and it's a pain to put on with so many spokes, how do you apply yours?

 

^true, it is a pain to remove the sealant but the sealant works great. Brake dust still sits on it. But it is much easier to remove the brake dust. You can test it by using your finger and wipe off the brake dust, brake dust will come right off.

 

so i tried claybarring (with LOTS of lube) almost everything i can get on the lip. then i polished with this incredible product:



i'm telling you it does wonders

for those of you wanting to try this method, don't be scared after claybarring if the lip becomes hazy. mother's billet polish will clear it right up :thumbup:

those lips are anodized, same as Volks.

Metal Polish is a *last* resort and assumes you've given up on the anodized finish.

 

I was thinking of using the Meguiars or mothers clay bar is this safe (mild enough) to use on chrome wheels?
