Either the dealer over filled my tires at 38-39psi (cold), or my pencil gauge really is extremely inaccurate. I've always kept pressures at 34-35psi front, and 33-34psi rear (all cold). But I've been using the same pencil gauge for years. It's never failed me before. I figured those kind never wore out sinse there's nothing to them, simple design.
I got my car home from the dealer after some service, and the service writer told me they adjusted the tire pressure. Tires are new (OEM RSA's). When I got home, they read 41+ psi (hot). So after reading several posts, I am definitely investing in a new dial or digital gauge. I can't imagine my gauge has been off that much. I mean we're talkin' 5-6 psi difference. So I'll get a new gauge, re-check the pressure, and adjust accordingly. But I still think they over filled. Just not sure why they would though. I know max psi is 44, but it's just a max. I would hope the dealer would think to look at the pressure spec. Unless they know something I don't.

 

I think those pencil gauges are great for the glove compartment or an automotive kit, but I think they have too much play to be accurate. I use the dial type gauge that has the short hose attached to it.
