Problems with Iforged

Hey I posted in the detail forum asking how to keep these wheels clean, got some great responses. After spending three hours yesterday polishing, and with it raining for about ten minutes last night, the rims look 75% as bad as they did before I polished. My question is: does everyone's lip stain and pit like mine does? It looks like the skin of a person who's received second-degree burns, or if any of you have seen the movie "Monster", it looks like Charlize Theron's face. I've been trying all day to speak with Steve or Vince cause nothing is wrong with the face of the rim, which is shiny and doesn't stain. I'm wondering if they forgot to put a coat or protectant on?
Please help me out with any info you have cause I cannot live like this. Imagine if you spent three hours washing and waxing after having your car bombarded by bird crap that stained your paint, then came out the next day and your car looked the same as it did before you washed! It's ruining my life!

Yeah polished is a Bit@# They dont put anything on them, they just polish them and send em out. After you polish them up really good throw some good car wax on them. It should help a bit.

Re: Problems with Iforged

I'm really thinking about selling them. Can I polish to a miror finish and put a clear coat on? Would that help?
I'll try what you suggested, hopefully I can at least live with the results.
Thanks!

Re: Problems with Iforged

that's one of the problems with a polish finish but, some still want that finish. it's easy to fix if you knick up the lips. i used to take the wheels off the car every other month and give them a real good polish. polish is good but, i highly recommend having them clear coated.

I was going to get chrome but because of the wait with the chromer I passed. Im going to roll them until winter then send them in for chroming. Ive had bad luck with wheels and at this point I just want them now! You might want to think about doing the same.

Re: Problems with Iforged

if you get the lips and centers chromed, they will be a 3 pc. wheel. since i've had mine, cleaning chrome is so much easier.

Re: Problems with Iforged

what type of rim polish are you using? I have found that Eagle One makes an excellent polish (looks like pink cotton candy)... I've used this on my show truck back when I owned it and had absolutely no problems and it maintained the shine.

Re: Problems with Iforged

I tired Meguiar's, which Steve suggested, and it sucked. I'm so frustrated...I'm this close to selling them and getting something else. I can't believe after all this time waiting these rims are causing me such distress. Every morning I go outside and they look like crap, all mottled and pitted. I can't believe I paid this much money and waited this long and this is how it's turning out.
Sorry to vent, thanks for the suggestion. I'll certainly try it, although it's way too late to repair the pit damage that simple water and rain have done. Unbelievable.
I'll let you know how the Eagle One works.

Re: Problems with Iforged

i feel your pain!!! what i did is i tried about every polish out there, i finally used the stuff called M.A.S.S. i it at wal mart while shopping for stuff for cleaning supplies for the house, i saw it and i was like what the hell i've tried everything else, so i did it took out the stains on my lip and behind it also, i was real careful cause the stuff looked and felt abrasive, but what the hell again i already have polish scratches...so after i took off the dis-coloration i followed up with some mothers polish i forgot the name of it but it was $16.99 and in a glass jar, and after about an hour just polishing i have the BLING BLAOW again...

Boy all this talk about polishing is not making me look forward to my rims! Im kind of glad I kept both ordred(symbolics in chrome and iforged in polished) If the symbolics get here first Im going to have to keep them and sell the iforged!
