2005 G35 6MT rear directional or non-directional tires?

Hello all, I'm shopping for tires I got some good quotes from ace tire in Miami, by the way they do ship(two tires 60lbs for $35 aprox) the prices with these guys seem better than others. Well they quoted me the eagle all season f1 245/45 r18 for $125 I told the guy that I heard that this tire was good but it was loud, he said that it depended on the car too he told me that the it was mainly beacuse it was a directional tire a non directional tire will diminish the noise, the option was an eagle gt that ran for $160. Any comments or reviews? Should I go with directional or non directional? Any help would be appreciated

Typically asymmetrical tires are quieter than directional tires because of their design. I would be more concerned about what kind of tire's you're keeping on the car to see if the ones you buy are compatible with them.

Neal, thanks for your reply, these tires are for my gf G35 6MT, we are shopping for the rear tires although we will need to buy the front tires in a couple weeks. We are trying to decide on all weather tires, so far we are getting a deal on the Eagle f1 245/45 R18 but the reviews say it is a very loud tire, the Eagle GT all season seems like a good deal and it is quieter than the F1, we are looking for tires that will last a while. I checked the reviews on the tirerack and there are mixed reviews on these tires, they both agree they last but the are loud. any suggestions. We need tires for St. Louis weather.

The GT will be a tad longer lasting and quieter... but not as good a/s. If you mainly see clear roads and not a lot of accumulation I'd say the GT would be a good choice.

neal,
if you had to choose between both tires for all weather tire that last long and is a comfortable ride, pretty much the best of the 2 or 3 if you add the Dunlop
SP Sport Signature, which one will you recommend.
Thank you for your assistance.

these are the weather conditions in STL
Winter (December through February) is the driest season, averaging about 6.7 inches (170 mm) of total precipitation. Average annual snowfall is 19.8 inches (500 mm) per year.[24] Spring (March through May), is typically the wettest season, with approximately 11.4 inches (290 mm) of precipitation. Dry spells lasting one or two weeks are common during the growing seasons.

The Dunlop has been doing quite well actually. Those are asymmetrical so rotation will be easier and they run pretty quiet. They would be a better poor weather option as well.

Neal, thanks for your help, I went to the tirerack website and selected the dunlop tires and there was a sign that said that these tires had a higher rating than than the OE tires, what does this mean, are these tires good for the G35 coupe 6MT with wheel package?

That's a note about the tire being xl or extra load rated compared to a standard load rated tire. Every once in a while we get someone who complains about the xl tires being stiffer riding than the standard load tires. To avoid any potential issues we like to remind people they are buying an xl and it might ride stiffer than normal.

Personally I've never had someone send a set back because they were xl. The difference is minimal but like a lot of things these days you have to put warnings on everything. I'd disregard it personally....

So its coming down to these 3, any suggestions? this is for a 2005 G35 6MT, all season tires. I think the Dunlop has the best score on tirerack and has good marks on tread wear also. any suggestions. This is for St. Louis weather, summer, rain, winter, light snow.

Dunlop
SP Sport Signature

Goodyear
Eagle GT

Kumho

The Nankang NSII tires are terrible. The previous owner of my g put them on just prior to selling it and i recently replaced them (after only a few thousand miles) with Bridgestone RE050A pole positions and the difference is night and day.

The NSII are directional and the tread pattern exacerbates the feathering issue on the 19's at least (in my experience). I was very happy to get rid of them.
