anyone done the 245 f / 255 r on stock 18's?

Curious if anyone has changed tire sizes to 245/40 front and 255/45/18 rears on stock 18" wheels? If so, any pics of how it looks and did you notice a decrease in understeer? Thanks

There are some pics there but keep in mind its dropped on H-Tech springs as well. The 245's in front fill out the wheel well better and do slightly reduce understeer. The only negative IMO is a heavier steering feel. 255's fit very nicely on the rears with only a slight bulge which helps protect your rims from being curbed.

i got yokohama avs db s2's. i wanted all season tires and an affordable price rather than the summer tires. i hear they are pretty good, a cross between the michelin pilots and the continental extreme's. they were around 725 shipped from tirerack.

Yeah, those are on my list? I have had experience with the AVS ES100's and although great handling and decent wear, I could NOT handle the noise after only 7K or so!!!

Did you look at any other tires? I appreciate your input, I am really trying to find a tire that does not break the bank, yet provides decent grip and good wear! Thanks

I decided to go with those sizes. I did the rears already but I'm milking a few more miles out of the fronts before to replace them. I went with Michilen Pilot A/S. They are pricey, but considering the tread wear rating of 400 compared to 200 on the regular Michilen Pilots and I think 180 on the Yokohamas, maybe in the long run they'll cost about the same (so I hope). They also have a better rating for ride and noise comfort. Go to tirerack.com and compare the ratings on the Yokos AVS Sport, Pilot Sport, Pilot Sport A/S, and Bridgeston SO-3. I say the Pilot Sport just for a point of reference since they are OEM, but I bet you find what you want among the other three.

i put my yokohama avs db s2's on today. i havent driven the car yet, but it looks much better than the stock tires. there is less gap between the tire and the fender. the tire is wider so it just looks much better than the stock size. will let you know how the car rides tomorrow.

Re: anyone done the 245 f / 255 r on stock 18's?

drove my g today with the new tires. wow what a difference. these tires are as quiet as can be, and with the new tire size, no more bouncy ride and i feel very planted to the ground. tried to make the car slip by taking turns faster than normal and the car smoothed around the turns with no effort. at first, the mechanic at infiniti was questioning me about the size and he wasnt sure if it would fit right, but after he put them on he said they ride much better than the stocks. plus they look better, mainly because they are wider and there is less gap between the tire and the fender, plus i like the tread pattern. i have to say, i am very pleased with the tire and the new size. although it is just the first day, i hope it lasts. btw, for the most part, i am not the type that peels out every day.

none at all. the mechanic at infiniti was asking me the same question before he put the tires on. he warned me that there may be issues. but after they were installed the mechanic was like this setup is better than the oem. it rides much better.

I am intested in knowing if your 245/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear have given you any problem with upsetting the traction control system???
With the front tire being 3/10ths of an inch shorter and the rear 3/10ths of an inch taller, I have been told that this additional 6/10th of an inch additional difference in stagger could be a problem....

thanks....

Re: anyone done the 245 f / 255 r on stock 18's?

A little curious about that myself. Also, I know the calculator says it's a .6 difference but that's not exactly true. Both Michelin and Yokohama provide pdf specs on their tires and the real diameter which varies from model to model. Stock tires are 25.8/26.8 diameter, and revs per mile are 804/775 (-29 revs different).

Pilot Sports A/S at 245/40 and 255/45 are 25.9/27.2 revs 801/762 (-39)

AVS db2 at 245/40 and 255/45 are 25.7/27.1 revs 808/766 (-42)

So it'd be .3 or .4 more of a stagger for those brands. Man I would think tire preasure or tire wear could make a .3 difference so I'm guessing vdc would be cool with the new sizes. And, after reading this thread I'm thinking next time I'm doing the db2s.
