Is a 2" drop too much?
Is a 2" drop too much?
I love the forum and here is my first post. I talked to a local performance shop in San Diego about the Eibach Pro Kit Springs for the coupe. He said Eibachs are good but only give about 1" drop. He said there are Sprint springs that will drop the coupe 2" without causing ride quality to be too harsh. Anyone with experience with the coupe dropped 2"? Do you all think the coupe would look better dropped 1" or 2"?
Re: Is a 2" drop too much?
Intrax also has two inch drop springs for the G35... About "is it too much"... I dont kown about the coupe.. but I konw somone with a two inch drop on their sedan and when they got the Gialla body kit it was too low to drive..

I think a 2" drop is a little too much for this car. Even with the stock 18"s on. I the best drop is probably 1.5". I think I read somewhere that the Eibach Pro Kit lowers the front 1.0" and the rear 1.6". If someone knows please respond to this post with correct numbers.
More than 2" you will run into camber problems and you will need a camber kit for this. Plus the stock shocks will not ride well.
I had installed Eibach Pro Kits on my Z which only lowered the car .8"!!! But when I had 18" wheels installed on it, it looked perfect and not too low.

Re: Is a 2" drop too much?
Dr Hope,
I was sponsered by Sprint Suspension on My Current car. Up for Sale. CL Type-S They gave me the Accord Race springs. The drop was 3.5"-3.75 Despite being that low I never had that bad a ride. Didn't bounce. Needles to say I went with them again on my Dad's 2003.5 G-35 Sedan The springs have been on the car for around a little over a month. The front is dropped around 1.3-1.4 The rear is 1.5-1.7" Around town the ride is real cush. Haven't taken too many twisties yet. But handles much better than stock. Hope this helps. If you have questions Talk to Eddie.
Sprint Suspension 1-909 364-2440 Tell him David with the CL Type-S & G-35 Reffered you.

Re: Is a 2" drop too much?
Sprint is a good name, but I trust Eibach equipment more for some reason. Anyway, the Eibach's are rated at 1.1" drop all around and after they settle, it should look a lil better.
Personally, I like cars low but you do have to get a camber kit for all four corners and your stock shocks will go a lot faster. Do they even make Koni Reds and Yellows for the G35 yet? I was thinking of getting Eibachs and getting Koni Yellows so that I can adjust the height that way...who knows. In short, 2" drop is pretty low, so you better be willing to fork out some more money to do it right or your wheels on the inside will bald out quickly.

It's still a G thang!!

Well lets see i don't know if 2" is too much but when i went to tanabe to hav ethem proto-type an exaust on my car nad try out the 350z springs on my G. The car ended up sinking so low to a point where the exaust would scrape. but then again the g is a bit heaver then the Z but the springs were a 1.?" drop i fergot. But i know im june they will have a set out maybe evne a coilover set, and exaust. So look for my post in june i should have them all in for show and tell.
Re: Is a 2" drop too much?
i would think 2" would be a bit much but depends on what your looking for. i'm going with 20's so i don't plan on dropping my car at all. i did all of that on my max. and don't plan on doing it with this car.
Re: Is a 2" drop too much?
Hey Dr. We're scraping bottom as it is. I measured my stock coupe and she's about 6" off rock bottom at mid ships. I've already had some scraping issues with driveways and road humps and try to get a decent angle of attack on raised driveways. I'm from the East Coast originally and boy...our Coupes might as well sit the winters' out in a cozy garage.
