Here's the plan.

So, I've been wanting to get new wheels because my 20s are chrome and flashy and ugly. I had about $1200 to just go out and buy rims, then sell my old ones and not lose so much money so i could buy an exhaust. But something just popped up on CL. A stock set of 17" '04 sedan wheels for $175. With tires. So I am going to buy and pick these up on Thursday, sell my old wheels for $600, and have about $1500-1600 or so. Then i can roll on the stockers, buy something new, and then get away with selling the old ones for double what I paid for them. HUH HUH HUH? How much could I get away with selling a set of 17" 04 sedan wheels for with decent tires? And what should I use my $1600 on a wheel tire package?

You have a sedan right? stock sedan wheels wont catch a premium, $175 is on the low with good tires, but its not a shock in my opinion. There's certainly nothing wrong with trying to resell the sedan stockers for $300 with good tires, but dont be foolish and turn away offers for $250, take what you can get or keep them.

As for wheels at the $1600 level. Your best bet is some used Work XD-9's in coupe/Z offsets which will look sick on the sedan. There are some new wheels you could buy but it all comes down to your taste, not ours.

I drive a coupe, haha. I mean, as long as I can make some money off those 17s when I go to sell em, I'm not gonna be worried. I know they're worth a tid bit more than what I'm buying em for.

I'm looking at Axis Pentas or something with a really thick 5 spoke though.

Just an FYI, the sedan wheel will fit really really bad on a coupe because of the offset. I'll guarantee that you will hate the look of them immediately.

Honestly, with that budget it may be best for you to just pick up a good set of OEM Rays 19s with some 20mm spacers and call it a day. It will be the best quality and best looking rims you can buy in your price range, and you may even have some $$ left over.

I'm gonna try and pick up a used set of Volks. If I can find a set of GT-Cs in gold... I would just be tickled pink.

I know. but they will only look bad for a week or two until I find the set I actually want. I'm only buying those sedan wheels so I can sell the ugly 20s I have and still be able to drive my car, lol.

Just got my 04 sedan 17s. I'm gonna buy tires tomorrow, probably mount and balance on Thursday, then I'm gonna sell my old ones, and I will actually have almost 2k for new wheels and tires. Am I still in better shape it I just go with stock 19s? I could buy a new exhaust with the money I'd save.

Search the marketplace!!! They always have good deals on used wheels.. especially for coupes! If you search hard enough, 2k will take a you long way!

Nothing gold, nothing local, and nothing that looks spectacular in silver. Unless I overlooked something, MP seems really empty. Or I am just a picky bitch.

You might not find much in the 18" section, so stick to the 19" section. Also, try searching on my350z as well, might find a broader selection and the fits will be the same for the coupe.

Also are you saying you want something Gold or that you do not want Gold. You will likely have to settle for something being shipped, so look for good deals that include shipping. Shipping shouldnt cost more than $200 extra depending on the actual weight of the wheels and if they come with tires or not.

If you dont care too much about brand recoginition, hit up wheeldude for Rotas, he can put together a package for you including mounted/balance tires for around $2k shipped and they'll fit the coupe fine.

I forgot about my350z, I'll check there. And I do want gold. Not bronze, but gold. I figure with the light gray color, gold would look better than a super contrasting bronze. And I will def look at wheeldude for wheels.

Stock 17s mounted, balanced, installed. Old ugly 20s SOLD! I will have about $1800 or so to mess around with now. And the brakes in my car with the 17s are like night and day. I hit the brakes way too hard now, lol.
