Touring vs. Performance
So I have read throught he entire forum on wheels and tires and I still am not sure what to put on my 2008 G35xs. It came with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. I did not realize this until now but the Dunlop appears to be a summer tire and not an all season. I have ran them through two winters and they did fine in rain and light snow. I do not run the car much in snow. They lasted to 40K miles (pretty good). I live in Seattle Washington. I am looking for a replacement tire. I enjoy the feel and handling of the G but would also like a tire that delivers a comfortable quiet ride. I know that means two different tires. Question is this - Will I be disappointed if I get a high quality touring tire instead of a performance all season? Will I really see that much difference in handling?

Great link about the diff performance classes here Performance Categories
If you want a tire that will offer some performance handling traits, but give better life and a/s traction, then a performance or ultra high performance tire would work well. Sort of the Jack of All Trades class. The touring class is more luxury ride and extended life, but not geared toward performance driving.
