Im still learning, it's work in progress. The mm's at the end keep throwing me off, im used to seeing "

Wouldnt it actually be 37.7mm

 

The fractions of mms are too inconsistent with most wheel companies, so it's better to stick to the 12mm rule. (it would be 37.6 if it were perfect world though)

This is the USA's fault here, nobody else in the world uses the imperial system lol

 

I will have to agree there. Even online conversions vary by a few fractions of a MM compared to and inch.

Using the imperial system just makes us unique.

MM to Inch conversions are something I never thought I'd use when I learned it in school.

Do schools in the states teach the metric system?

 

Back when I was in school, no they really didn't teach it as a part of the curriculum. It was gone over, but it wasn't anything that you were tested on, or required to know.
Sounds like it was a part of your curriculum.
I am in 5th, I mean my daughter is in 5th grade and I haven't seen anything pertaining to the metric system in any of her school work. That's not to say that they wont teach it down the road in Jr high or High School.

Canada's curriculum is waaaay different than in the States.

We learn American history on top of Canadian and we learn and are tested on conversions from metric to imperial. If I recall, we've actually been doing it since the early 90s.

I graduated back in the 90's so it might be different now. A lot has changed in the past 20 years, so I'm sure the curriculum is a lot different now.
I know my daughter is doing math that I didnt learn at her age, I learned this math a few years later. Then again she goes to one of the best districts in the state, something I didnt have when I was in school.

 

Oh man, you have no idea. I can't remember the exact grade but supposedly grade 6 students are starting to learn what most of the babyboomers learned in senior high school.

Pretty messed up, the majority of math being taught in highschool is so completely useless though.
