Help - 9.5 or 10.5 in the rear of a coupe?
Help - 9.5 or 10.5 in the rear of a coupe?
I need some input on wheels for the rear of my coupe. Is anyone running 10.5 in the rear of a coupe without suspension mods? If so, is the wheel/tire past the fender? I may not be able to lower the car (steep driveway!) so I have to consider this. The wheel is a Volk GT-7 if that helps. I just want to make sure it won't be too wide.
Thanks for any feedback!

Re: Help - 9.5 or 10.5 in the rear of a coupe?
C'mon, someobdy's gotta have some advice here!? I hear lots of talk about being able to do 10.5 in the rear, but most who have done this have made suspension mods. I'll need to run stock suspension so I need some opinions on whether or not the 10.5 with 275's will stick out too much.

Re: Help - 9.5 or 10.5 in the rear of a coupe?
al503 has 19x10.5 on the rear of his car, they look awesome. However his car is lowered. He didn't need to roll his fenders. His rear offset is like +23mm or something like that... My rears are 18x9.5 with a +25 offset. (The rims haven't arrived yet), and I plan on keeping stock suspension setup...
However, I did notice that a 275 tire is too narrow for a 10.5" rim. They look "stretched". Kind of like the 225 tires on the front of the G coupe's 8" rim.

Good info from AVS. I have 10.5" with a +22 offset. They do stick outside the fender (ever so slightly). No clearance issues though.
Also 275 is too narrow as mentioned above. The proper size is more around 285 or 295 if you don't like the stretched look. 285's would work without issue but if I went with 295's, it might be close in terms of clearance. Finally, tire selection in 285 or 295 is limited.
I'd go with 9.5 due to the proper fit of tires that you have a good selection of and the fact that they will be a little lighter than the 10.5"s.

Re: Help - 9.5 or 10.5 in the rear of a coupe?
go with 10.5, i got 9.5 and i regret it cuz the lip is so small, if you're not going to lower it i don't think you'll have any problem, most of the people who modified the fenders probably lowered their car...yea and get 285 at least
Re: Help - 9.5 or 10.5 in the rear of a coupe?
XIMER - you said the lip of your 9.5's are too small...what kind of wheels?
Also, the 275 was for a Toyo T1s and I think that's their closest size. I could be wrong. I'll double-check the offsets. I can't remember which ones I discussed with the retailer.
Thanks...

Go with 10.5" in the rear. 9.5" will look too small. I have 10.5" in the rear and I am VERY pleased with how the car looks/handles.

You'll see, its going to slow you down a lot! Why would you go wider then a 9.5 anyway? you can put a 285 on it if you want. Thats the same contact patch as a 10.5. People like to go with a wider rim to get more lip. BUT if you can get the same lip why not go with a 9.5? But hey what do I know, I only work for a wheel shop.

G352ENV - What offsets are you running?
I see that the 10.5's look great, but again I think that car is lowered. From what I've seen, that helps tuck the 10.5's under the fender. I'm not sure how it will look without lowering.
