G35 coupe Tire suggestions?
G35 coupe Tire suggestions?
Sorry if this question has been asked a thousand times.
I have a 2005 G35 Coupe and I need new tires. My mechanic does not sell tires, but will install them. Currently I have the factory Goodyear Eagle RS-A 225/50R17 (front) & 235/50R17 (back).
I am more concerned with a quiet comfortable ride than a great racing tire. I would like to spend $800 or less on 4.
I went to Mr. Tire because he had buy 3 get 1 free on Goodyear. Was told that GS-A's were not part of the promotion and 4 would cost $1,149 installed.
After the shock I went to Costco and they wanted to sell me Bridgestone POTENZA G 019 235/50R17 $$785 - $70 coupon = $715 for 4.
A third local tire place will sell me 4 Firestone Firehawk GT in my size for $668 installed.
I am open to any suggestions. I live in Maryland near both DC and Baltimore so I have plenty of choices.

I'm about to get Continental ExtremeContact DWS installed on my wife's car. That should fit in your budget. According to the surveys on tire-rack, it is a very quiet tire. (And excellent all around tire to boot, with the best snow traction of any UHP A/S tire, according to Tire-Rack's comparo test). This tire is currently ranked #1 on TireRack's survey.
I've never heard of any Goodyear tire being that quiet... And yes, the RS-A is complete junk... I had that before on one of my other cars.

The Grid would be a good choice, many people I've sold those to are very happy with them. I'd also look at the Yokohama Envigor. If you want the top comfort/life and a bit less performance blood check out the Kumho LX.
