Re: Coupes w/10.5

for me it was a toss up between a number of factors. i wanted a 10.5 inch rear rim and 9.5 up in the front. but i also didn't wanna run into issues with rubbing. so i sacrificed a little bit of lip in order to run these sizes. i'm also running 245's up front and 275's in the rear. yes the tire is strecthed, but i love that look. plus like the other person posted, if yer gonna hit a curb, yer gonna mess up yer rim no matter wat size tire u go with (285's i mean). the wider the tire, the more u have to alter yer fenders. i didnt wanna have to do any of that and worry about cracking or any other issues. i dropped my car 1.5" in the front and 1" in the rear and have had no rubbing issues watsoever, and i'm satisfied with the lip, although its not the biggest out there, i don't have to worry about tearing my new expensive tires up (well, the tires were free, but still)

Well i just spoke to the company im goin to buy my rims from. They said they can guarantee that there will be no rubbing issues involved with my car with the 10.5 rims on the rear. You think i can trust them? I did see photos of a g35 coupe with these rims on pictures in their company website. Wether there are going to be rubbing issues , its impossible to tell from the photo alone.

If they give you less of a lip it wont rub. Its all about the size of the lip!

Re: Coupes w/10.5

uh... back to the G35 Forum...

Agree, lip size depends on the Offset a lot.

My manager's G35 has 3.2" lip on 19x8.5 for Front!!! Rear I think is 4.3" for 19x10!!! This setting (x8.5F and x10R) will sure NOT need any spacers or fender rolling even with aggressive low down.

Thank you.

Re: Coupes w/10.5

I've also been shopping for some Volk wheels lately. I thought about the 10.5" for awhile but then dropped the idea. It adds unnecessary weight to both the rims and tires. I am probably one of the few people who don't really care for lips either, everytime I see wide lips I think of the pot holes and bent rims. : ( It's a chronic side effects of having lived at east coast.

I found it is very difficult to move up to 19" without taking a performance hit. Basicly in order to avoid any performance decline, the 19" wheels have to weight less than 20lbs and the tires need to weight around 25lbs. This is quite a challenge as the 20lb limit eliminates 85% of the 19" rims out there. I don't think there is anyway to avoid a performance hit with a 10.5" rear except with pricy Magnesium rims.

What price we pay for looks eh? It's doubtful any NA G35 can benefit from FAT 275 rears, but 19" rims look sweet on the car. I wish I had enough $$$ to get a set of show rims and another set of harcore 18" wheels for racing.
