Falken 452 tire line blowing out issue
Falken 452 tire line blowing out issue
Has this happened to anyone here running Falken 452? I've read this happened in the Club Lexus forum and sadly, happened to me.
My ride suddenly got real bumpy and when i got to work, i noticed my rear tire was like almost flat. So i pumped air into it and see what would happen to the air by the time i get off work. So 8 hours later. Air was still there. So i thought nothing of it.
But as i was driving to work the next day, it got worse so i decided to look under the car and this was what i saw:

I immediately called El Monte Discount Tires and ordered a set of "General" tires. As i was driving there (driving like 30 miles per hour, avoided freeway), the rear tired blew. I didn't get a chance to take pic of the torn tire, but a friend of mine from Club Lexus Forum said that there were a few incidents happening with them. So if you google "Falken 452 Blow out" etc...you'll find some postings in other forums.
I am in need to replace my two front, but i don't know if I should still get Falken 452....

had two set of 452 never had a problem.second pair I had a 225/30 on a 9.5 and no issue..well I had camber wear but I had no front camber kit..but besides the camber I really can't complain..I'll buy these again.
that tire looks like something was rubbing on it hardcore.
could have been a tread defect. I've had random tires "egg" the sidewalls for no reason and it was just a defect.
that doesn't fall in the category of "blow out" though. That's commonly misused. Blow out means the tire explodes (which never happens with belted radials) verses just popping and losing air. Also that usually means it happens randomly with no signs of wear. This shows a lot of wear.
It does look like there is an alignment issue but it's hard to tell with the way the tire is sitting and the shadows. It only takes 1 pothole to destroy a great alignment from a shop. Or you could have what happened to me and the stupid tech not tighten the lock nuts down then you go back for aligment issues a few weeks later and you have 10 deg negative camber...
