Ever need to replace a Volk valve stem?

I had a front tire on Volk Winnings lose pressure and go down to 17.5 psi. There were cracks along the inner wall of the tire and the inner shoulder of the tire was pretty worn (slight negative camber). So, I can't tell if it was a tire failure or if (for example) the valve stem was leaking and let out enough air that the tire was running low for awhile and damaged the sidewall.

I know that in the past rubber valve stems would be replaced every time new tires were put on.

Question is: do you ever need to replace Volk valve stems?
