stock wheel question

I stupidly used the Infiniti lugnut wrench to take off my front wheel, and it left 2 big white gashes in the lug nut whole...Is there anything I can do to fix this? touch up paint? If so any idea on color code?...

Re: stock wheel question

You have the 18's? If so you might be out of luck, as it's very difficult to match the color of these wheels. Supposedly because the "painting process" used on these wheels in Japan, is not possible in the US for EPA reasons.

However a few have been lucky, and managed to get them repaired successfully, so I don't know what to say, other than, good luck

Re: stock wheel question

Matching the stock 18" wheels is very hard.....you may want to wait until one of our forum members (afr0puff) works out the formula through a paint company. It might just be the answer.......

When I curb rashed my front rim, I first purchased some Testors Model paints.......I think it was silver chrome and anthracite grey....I mixed them until I got it pretty close, then thinned it out a little and applied thin layers.....It matched pretty well, but I finally had the rim repaired thru my dealer....

Many of us used electrical tape around the outside of the socket....I purchased these I will be changing my 18's out for snows in another month or so, so I will see if they work for me......
Tire rack also sells thin wall sockets for alloy wheels as well....I think they are maybe $4 a piece....

Joey...how did the powder coating go? Did the finish meet your approval......

I see them powder coat the wheels on american chopper all the time, and the finish looks flawless......

Re: stock wheel question

I didn't do it yet. I put on my rotors, swaybars, and springs on this past weekend. Car feels like it's on rails. I'll post more on this when everything is done.

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: stock wheel question

Thanks for the suggestions, if I leave my wheels dirty the brake dust covers it up great

Powdercoats a good idea...What colors do you think would look good on Diamond Graphite?

American Chopper wheels look great in person, I live 20 mins from there shop and have a friend that works at orange county iron works (which is connected) so I see the bikes often when we're out riding that way

Re: stock wheel question

maybe you should just polish the rims. that way they would look all chrome but without the weight.

Re: stock wheel question

I'm not really big on chrome, I do love the look of a polished lip though, hmm, maybe a color close to diamond graphite with a polished lip would look nice?
